Rachel In 3 Words

In 3 words (thinks hard). My 3 words would be...

Creative

Resilient

Lovely

Why am I working on Expanding the Frame?

I have a disability myself, Hydrocephalus, and despite being able to go to normal screenings and performances, I am conscious that many people have barriers to smash through in order to see these events.

I love the idea\fact that this internship can help those who are in those situations to access cinema and help MAC to cater to their needs.

How Does It Feel To Work At MAC?

I grew up in Solihull and have family in Brum, so I had many a trip to Cannon Hill Park and MAC with my parents and grandparents as a child growing up.

So to be working here is kind of a full circle moment I never thought would happen.

Also, being a creative myself, what better place to work than a arts centre, hahaha!

Best Bits of Brum

My favourite Bits about Birmingham would be:

  • The venues: Going to the theatres and arenas is a favourite pastime - MAC is a favourite OBVS :)
  • The canal: I love a canal walk and being on a barge boat
  • Cross country travel: Ease of being able to travel across the country to most places via public transport
  • Diverse city: The number of different cultures that Birmingham is filled with is really cool and the way most cultures can easily live next to each other is great to witness and makes me proud to live in such a city
  • Creative city: Brum is overflowing with creativity and always has. I feel privileged and grateful to be
