Three young men from Lagos sit closely together on what appears to be a step or ledge in front of a bustling shoe store. The father in the center wears a purple striped shirt and has his arms around his two sons - one wearing a light-colored collared shirt on the left, and another in a yellow and blue striped shirt on the right. Behind them is shelves displaying shoes.

About BFI LFF 2025: My Father's Shadow

Fola (a magnetic Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù) is an enigmatic figure in his sons’ lives. As they traverse Lagos, Remi and Akin (real-life brothers Chibuike Marvellous and Godwin Egbo) begin to understand him as a person, and the sacrifices he has made for them. But as Nigeria’s presidential election results loom, events transpire that will dramatically change their relationship with him.

Presented as part of the 69th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express.
