About BFI LFF 2026: Fjord

An immigrant Romanian family living in Norway is subject to an investigation and faces the scrutiny of the local judicial system. Cristian Mungiu's second Palme d'Or winner after 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days presents an intricately constructed moral dilemma that pits preaching conservative Christian parents against a holier-than-thou liberal system. Mungiu masterfully crafts an ambivalent social drama that raises fundamental questions and avoids easy answers, asking us to ponder how unbiased our own sense of empathy is.

Presented as part of the 70th BFI London Film Festival.
