About Film Stories presents Dragonfly + Q&A
Disgusted with the state of care that her elderly neighbor Elsie (Brenda Blethyn) is receiving, Colleen (Andrea Riseborough) offers to help for free. Over tea and through trying moments, the pair become trusted confidants despite their differences. But Colleen’s intentions may not be exactly as they seem. As suspicions grow, a shocking act triggers a violent chain reaction that threatens to irreparably alter the lives of both women.
Tour-de-force performances by Academy Award nominees Andrea Riseborough and Brenda Blethyn anchor writer-director Paul Andrew Williams’ unpredictable and eerie feature Dragonfly. Highlighting the stark realities of elder care through the lens of genre filmmaking, Williams offers a blistering portrait of alienation that is equal parts jaw-dropping and heartbreaking.
The screening will be followed by a live onstage Q&A with director Paul Andrew Williams and actor Jason Watkins. Hosted by Simon Brew.
