A white transman in his twenties stares at us with piercing blue eyes. He's standing in the bottom left corner of the frame, viewed from his to head to his torso. Hi short peroxide blonde hair is almost the same colour as his pale complexion and his blue eyes match the blue-grey tarmac behind him. He's wearing dark blue overalls that have his name stitched in red: Texas Tomboy.

About Gendernauts + live streamed Q&A

Monika Treut's 1999 documentary Gendernauts: A Journey Through Shifting Identities is narrated by Sandy Stone, a founder of transgender studies, who guides us around San Fran and its gender non-conforming residents. We meet drag king performers, Club Confidential regulars, intersex activists and avant-garde video artists all talking about what gender fluidity means to them. Treut is renowned for her transgressive brand of filmmaking, often chronicling queer lives, sexual politics and defiant people.

Before the film, drag artist Anna The Echo will be transporting us to San Francisco's Club Confidential, a gender bender drag event popular in the late nineties with a short cabaret set.

The film will be followed by a live streamed Q&A with director Monika Treut, hosted by Anna The Echo.
