About Kaleidoscope: Pop At The MAC

The Kaleidoscope team return with another mouth-watering selection of pop music archive taken from the televisual vaults, including rarely seen footage of The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Kinks and the very final edition of the ITV pop music series Thank Your Lucky Stars.

The Beach Boys Down Under – unbroadcast TV special which follows The Beach Boys to Australia in the style of The Monkees, including footage from a concert in Queensland on 2 May 1970

Top of the Pops - a compilation of rare footage taken from private collections, including performances from Paul McCartney, Spandau Ballet and Hazel O'Connor that weren't used in the final broadcast

The Old Grey Whistle Test - featuring The Kinks in 1972

Goodbye Lucky Stars - introduced by Jim Dale, ABC’s last ever Thank Your Lucky Stars which miraculously survived on the original 405 line video tape

The Beatles – a compilation of rare and hardly ever seen performances

The Geordie Scene - pop from Tyne Tees in 1974, including Beckett and Cozy Powell
