This black and white photograph shows an orchestral rehearsal or performance taking place in what appears to be an institutional or community setting. The scene captures a conductor in the center directing a string ensemble, with musicians seated with their instruments and sheet music on stands. Several observers are standing in the background, including what appears to be uniformed personnel (possibly naval or military officers based on their dress uniforms) and other attendees in formal attire. The setting has a brick wall backdrop with large windows, and there are some administrative tables or desks visible, suggesting this might be taking place in a school, community center, or similar venue. The photograph appears to be from several decades ago, likely the 1970s or 1980s based on the clothing styles and image quality.

About Making Of MAC

In this five-part docu-series, filmmaker Dan Watts interviews people who helped shape MAC and whose lives were shaped by it in return. Through personal stories and unseen archival material, the series uncovers the moments, movements, and memories that made MAC what it is today.

These films chronicle the life of MAC from the 1960s to the 2010s, each told through the biography of a contributor, reflecting on life growing up, their desire to push boundaries, and the political and cultural shifts that defined both the region and the country. Commissioned by the MAC New Work Trust, the series offers a portrait of an institution in motion.

The screening will be followed by a live onstage Q&A with Dorothy Wilson, Robert Petty, Paul Herbert, Judy Dames and Roger Shannon.
