A young girl with windswept hair drives a vehicle at golden hour, her face lit warmly as she looks ahead with mouth open mid-speech or laughter. The side mirror and window frame are visible, with a hazy desert or coastal landscape and distant hills stretching outside.

About Mare’s Nest + Q&A

Emerging from the emotional aftershocks of the pandemic and shaped by Don DeLillo’s one-act play The Word for Snow, acclaimed British filmmaker Ben River’s latest takes us on a child-led journey through a fragile future.

Written for and starring Moon Guo Barker, Mare’s Nest unfolds across landscapes in Menorca and the UK, incorporating a film-within-the-film structure that blends unease, wonder and collaborative imagination.

The screening will be followed by a live onstage Q&A with director Ben Rivers.
