Narrated by Damian Lewis and shaped by Alexandra Strauss’s electric editing, Peck’s film lends Orwell’s prescient observations renewed urgency. His visually compelling direction, which blends layered narration and archival juxtapositions, finds Orwell’s words sharp and unsettling, echoing through a fractured present and becoming a clarion call for an examination of the mechanics of power, propaganda and systemic violence. It’s a timely work, infused with timeless critique.
