We see a man in a white military-style uniform seated at the head of a long white-draped table, staring directly at the camera with a stern expression. Several women are seated on both sides of the table, eating from bowls and plates with uneasy, somber expressions. The room has tall windows with slatted blinds in the background, casting a cold, institutional atmosphere.

About The Tasters

After Rosa flees Berlin to escape the bombs of World War II, she is recruited to become one of Hitler’s food tasters—a group of young women whose sole job is to sample every dish prepared for the Führer and ensure it hasn’t been poisoned. As the war rages on, Rosa finds herself torn in multiple directions, her loyalties divided between the handsome SS officer Lieutenant Ziegler and the other food tasters who have become her friends, including the sharp and plainspoken Elfriede, who has a secret that could mean death for them both.

Based on Italian author Rosella Postorino’s bestselling novel At the Wolf’s Table and inspired by the true story of Margot Wölk, The Tasters is a meticulous story of female solidarity under fascist rule, brought to life through compelling performances and meticulous attention to period detail.
