Prisoner Cell Block H
EventAbout Prisoner Cell Block H
‘If you think prison is hell for a man, imagine what it would be like for a woman!’
Running for a whopping 692 episodes, iconic Australian soap Prisoner Cell Block H was created by Reg Watson (executive producer of cult Midlands soap Crossroads) and followed the lives and loves of Wentworth Detention Centre. The series was something of a trailblazer in terms of LGBTQ+ on screen representation thanks to numerous openly gay characters, and whilst the show’s often OTT stylings gave it camp status, it offered up some incredibly hard-hitting storylines involving domestic abuse, riots and hostage situations.
This special event organised by TV archivists Kaleidoscope will feature a live onstage Q&A with Annette Andre (who played the character of Camilla Wells for four episodes) alongside a screening of two episodes from the sixth series, as well as an exclusive blooper reel.
