About Winner + Q&A

The story of Jashaan Gill is tailor made for a documentary. Born and raised in Oldbury, Gill was rejected from studying textiles at school, only to create his own streetwear line of clothing that ultimately led him to headline shows in Los Angeles, Paris and London.

Over the course of two years and across three countries, New York City-based filmmaker Vero Perez has documented the journey of Gill, capturing the highs and lows of his burgeoning career in fashion design. The result is Winner, which will be making its world premiere at this year’s Square Eyes festival, with Gill and director Perez both in attendance for a post-screening Q&A.
