About A Beginner's Guide to Painting in Watercolours: Flowers & Foliage (ASC173)

A one-day course focusing on close exploration of the natural world through watercolour.

What will you learn on this course?

This is an opportunity to develop your skills in watercolour as we produce paintings from direct observation within the beautiful setting of our Garden Studio and outdoor Pocket Garden.

Taking time to look closely at the structure of both a flowerhead and its leaves or stem, we will learn ways to translate that onto paper using the delicate medium of watercolour.

This course will cover a brief introduction to:
•    Stretching paper
•    Observational skills
•    The benefits of using a draft drawing
•    Colour mixing
•    Using tinted backgrounds
•    Creating a picture with depth

You will be introduced to a range of watercolour techniques enabling you to build confidence when painting in this medium.

The tutor will provide demonstrations and one-to-one support when required.
