About Shadow Puppet Camp (CSC160)
Explore the ancient art of shadow puppetry and learn how to design detailed puppets with moving joints and parts.
What will you learn on this course?
Shadow puppetry has a long history, originating in Asia over 2000 years ago.
In this workshop, children will learn this ancient art as they’ll get to design and make beautifully detailed puppets with moving parts. Once they have made their own unique puppet characters, the children will be able to bring them to life by writing and performing original stories. This workshop will allow participants to explore their creativity and let their imaginations run wild as they create new worlds through the art of puppetry.
The children will be able to take home anything that they have made during the course.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for children aged 8 to 14 years. It is open to all ability levels and does not require any previous experience. We provide a learning support worker and all our staff are DBS checked. Parents are not expected to accompany children on the course.
The course is accessible for children of all abilities who can participate in practical art and craft activities. A parent or carer may assist their child if required but must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible.
Age ranges are set carefully to consider key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.

All course material and equipment are provided. Children should dress appropriately as some visual art workshops can get a bit messy.
