Take part in bright and colourful craft activities to celebrate Summer and the beauty of the natural world.
What you will learn on this course?
On this course, the group will explore our neighbouring Cannon Hill Park looking for Summer foliage.
They will also be inspired by a visit to MAC’s current exhibition by artist Clare Hewitt, Everything in the forest is the forest, whose work explores nature and the forest through a range of sustainable photography techniques.
Once back in the classroom participants will use their treasures to create artworks learning techniques such as printing with leaves, hapa zome (dying with plants) and natural weaving.
Participants will aim to come away with 2 or 3 finished items.
Who is this course for?
This two-day course is suitable for children aged 6 to 11 years old. It is open to all ability levels. We provide a learning support worker and all our staff our DBS checked. Parents are not expected to accompany children on the course.
The course is accessible for children of all abilities who can participate in practical art and craft activities. A parent or carer may assist their child if required but must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible.
Age ranges are set carefully to consider key age developments, materials being used, and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.
Do you need to bring anything?
All course material and equipment are provided.
Children should dress appropriately as some visual art workshops can get a bit messy. Please provide suitable outdoor clothes for the weather.
Please note that lunch is not provided. Children will need to bring their own lunch to eat on a supervised one-hour break.
