About Waste Age: Eco Textiles (CSC159)
Discover the incredible ways plants can be used to print, dye and paint in this eco-inspired workshop.
What will you learn on this course?
Participants will unleash their imagination and artistic talents as they experiment with natural dyes, printing, painting and batik, all using plant derived products. Be amazing by the colours, textures and patterns that can be made purely from natural materials!
The course will include a visit to Waste Age: What can design do? a major group exhibition on display at MAC, to collect inspiration and ideas. We may also pop into the park or MAC’s pocket garden to collect materials to use in our work.
Learn new techniques for decorating textiles that can then be made into items like bunting, bags, wall hangings or cushion covers.
Children will finish the course with a number of items to take away, created in a fun, relaxed environment with other like-minded children.
Who is this course for?
This two-day course is suitable for children aged 8 to 14 years old. It is open to all ability levels and children don’t need previous experience, as full instruction and guidance will be provided by the Tutor. We provide a learning support worker and all our staff are DBS checked. Parents are not expected to accompany children on the course.
The course is accessible for children of all abilities who can participate in practical art and craft activities. A parent or carer may assist their child if required but must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible.
Age ranges are set carefully to consider key age developments, materials being used, and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.
Do you need to bring anything?
All course material and equipment are provided. Children should dress appropriately as some visual art workshops can get a bit messy. Do bring a coat in case we go outside.
Please note that lunch is not provided. Children will need to bring their own lunch to eat on a supervised one-hour break.
Are there any additional costs?
Materials required for this course are included in the course fee.
