About Wheelwork for Beginners and Improvers (CE115 Summer)
Whether this is your first time working with a pottery wheel or you wish to improve your wheelwork skills in this mixed-level course designed to build your skills and enhance your efficiency when creating thrown ceramics.
What will you learn on this course?
On this course the tutor will work with you to enhance your skills in thrown ceramics, and help you to improve your efficiency, consistency and accuracy when working with a wheel.
You will also have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of wheelwork forms.
The tutor will encourage you to develop your skills and through repetition build your confidence, encouraging you to be selective about work that is retained for firing, so that you deepen your understanding of the art of wheelwork.
The tutor will encourage you to produce functional and non-functional items. After completing a piece you can apply surface decoration with the use of various glaze colours which will then go on to be fired in the kiln.
Please note, by the nature of ceramics there is always a risk of technical failure, cracks or explosions for which we cannot be held responsible.
Who is this course for?
This course is for adults aged 18+ years. It is open to beginners and improvers. You don’t need any previous clay work experience as full instruction and guidance is given.
