Fundraising promise

Our promise to you
We are deeply grateful to everyone who chooses to support Midlands Arts Centre.
Your generosity helps keep creativity open to everyone, creates opportunities for artists and enables people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the arts.
Whenever we fundraise, we promise to treat you with honesty, respect and care.
We will always
- Be open and honest about why we are asking for support
- Use donations responsibly and for the purpose for which they were given
- Respect your choices about how and when we contact you
- Protect your personal information and use it responsibly
- Never place you under pressure to donate
- Handle any questions or concerns promptly and respectfully
- Follow relevant fundraising, charity and data-protection rules
Our fundraising follows the principles of being legal, open, honest and respectful.
How your support helps
Donations, partnerships and sponsorship help MAC:
- Keep arts experiences welcoming and accessible
- Create opportunities for children and young people
- Support artists to develop and share new work
- Bring communities together through creativity
- Protect MAC’s future as a creative home for Birmingham
We will explain clearly how your gift will be used and will honour any agreed restrictions placed on it.
How we use information
We want our conversations with supporters to be relevant and appropriate.
We may use information you have shared with us, such as your previous support or engagement with MAC, to better understand the areas of our work that may interest you.
In some circumstances, we may also use information that is publicly available. This could include information from:
- Companies House and the Charity Commission
- Company websites and professional profiles
- Publicly available news, biographies and registers
- Geographic or demographic information
This research helps us communicate more thoughtfully, identify potential partnerships and use our charitable resources effectively.
We will only use personal information where it is lawful and appropriate to do so. More information about how we use and protect your data is available in our Privacy Policy.
Respecting your choices
You are always in control of how you hear from us.
You can ask us to:
- Change how or when we contact you
- Stop sending fundraising communications
- Update or correct the information we hold about you
- Explain how we use your personal information
We will respect your wishes and make any requested changes as quickly as possible.
Due diligence and accepting gifts
MAC carefully considers significant donations, sponsorships and partnerships before accepting them.
For some gifts, we may carry out additional checks to understand the source of the funds, manage potential risks and ensure that accepting the gift would be consistent with MAC’s values and charitable purpose.
Where appropriate, decisions may be referred to MAC’s Board of Trustees.
MAC may decline a gift or partnership if accepting it could harm our organisation, our communities, our audiences or the people we work with.
