Become a Culture Reporter for MAC Cinema

Are you aged 16–30, based in Birmingham and obsessed with films, TikTok, Reels, YouTube or just producing content people want to watch?

MAC is looking for content creators / roving reporters to join forces with MAC’s marketing team to create short-form social content for 'Here I Am' - our new cinema season celebrating working-class, queer, Black and British Asian coming-of-age stories from four decades of British cinema, shining a light on the defiance, joy and vulnerability of growing up as a city kid in Britain.

You’ll be given a small selection of films to cover, briefed and supported by MAC’s Marketing team - but we'd love you to bring your own voice, personality and perspective to the content. Think short reviews, TikToks, Reels, reactions, audience interviews and whatever creative ideas you have for making content that gets people excited about the films. Our aim is to increase profile for the season and to introduce more young people to MAC’s cinema programme, by producing content that feels like it belongs on their feeds.

WHAT'S INVOLVED

• Work with MAC’s Marketing team on ideas, content sign-off and agree a plan for issuing and sharing posts
• Attend selected screenings at Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham (you will be allocated a ticket for the relevant screening)
• Create short-form social content around the films 
• Share your own thoughts, reviews and reactions
• Submit edited content to MAC's Marketing team for sign off within 3 days of each screening

THE FEE

This is a short-term freelance opportunity, paid at a fixed fee of £130 for a minimum of 10 hours.

Here I Am is the Birmingham strand of the British Film Institute (BFI)'s national Rip it Up initiative. Delivered in partnership with Film Hub Midlands and the BFI Film Audience Network, Rip It Up is exploring and celebrating the changing face of youth rebellion, culture and expression on screen in the UK.
