A young red haired woman in a red and white dress walks along a beach directly towards the camera. In the background is an old building sitting on the edge of the ocean.

About UK Jewish Film Festival: British-Jewish Life on Film - The Midlands

An evening of entertaining, funny, and moving short films exploring stories from Britain’s Jewish community in the Midlands and farther afield. Films include My Neighbour’s Ass, starring Maureen Lipman as the owner of a pet donkey who terrorises the residents of the cul-de-sac where it lives, and Friday Night Flop, featuring Tracy-Ann Oberman as a mother losing touch with her reclusive, gambler daughter.

Highlight of the screening though is director Benjamin Till's mesmerising and moving musical film Psalms. Filmed in the UK’s most iconic and spiritual locations, including Glen Coe, Hadrian’s Wall, the Peak District, and Neolithic stone circles, and performed in Hebrew, Yiddish, Welsh, Gaelic, Irish and English dialects, this stunning entirely a capella cinematic journey shows how ancient Jewish themes resonate with modern day life.
