CoursesAbout Ceramics for Young People (CSC253)
Discover and develop your skills with hand-built ceramics!
What will you learn on this course?
An opportunity to design and make your own spring themed trinket box which can then be decorated in a method of your choice.
In this one-day course you will be introduced to hand-building techniques that are regularly used when making items out of clay, in this class focusing slap building to create boxes. You will have the opportunity to explore surface decoration and use a variety of finishing techniques. Learners will be encouraged to review and refine their work in order to produce a finished ceramic piece that is unique to them.
The course provides a fun and creative environment which will encourage young people's creativity and discovery exploring the medium of clay.
Please note that ceramic works need time to dry out and then fired twice in MAC’s kilns. Your item will be ready for collection 4 weeks after the date of your workshop. We will contact you when the work is ready, when you arrive at MAC, please ask for an Art Studio Technician or a Duty Manager who will be happy to help you retrieve your piece from our secure pottery cages.
By the nature of ceramics there is always a risk of technical failure, cracks or explosions for which we cannot be held responsible.
