Meet best-selling children’s author, Farhana Islam

Brum-based author, Farhana Islam, is a former primary school teacher with a passion for telling stories and empowering diverse voices. Farhana’s fab books include her brilliantly hilarious debut novel The Misadventures of Mina Mahmood and the heart-warming picture books Not Now, Noor and Ibraheem’s Perfect Eid.

Beano Comic Workshop | 1pm and 2.45pm

Get creative with Hugh Raine from Beano. Hugh has two heads. Yes, two! He has one for writing and another one for illustrating and when he puts those heads together, he creates very silly stories for brilliant comics like the Beano. Lots of these stories are now being collected into Betty & the Yeti collections. Learn how some of the best loved Beano characters are drawn and have a go at creating your own comic masterpiece.

What’s That Noise? - Silly Sound Effects Workshop | 1pm and 2.45pm

Take part in an interactive session with a radio producer and audio book narrator and learn how to create and use sound effects to bring a story to life.
